Shrink Bundling Film

Unlike most American extruders, we consider shrink film to be a performance application and not a commodity.  For each specific application we run the same resins with the same extrusion conditions every time for each specific application to ensure consistent performance and continuity of supply.  Many customers have different requirements within the same facility, so we often make different films ( MD/TD shrink ratios, COF, venting, etc ) destined for the same plant.

We manufacture shrink films for unitizing, most commonly for trays of cans or bottles. We have both industrial and a high clarity grade for retail applications.

Our "REDI" grade was developed specifically for "film-over-film", or shrink wrapping over printed LDPE shrink films without melting into the printed film .

Multiple – packs or “bulk” packs are also a popular application for industrial shrink film. Unless otherwise specified, our films have  minimum transverse direction (TD) shrink, good “stackability” and are sold by NET WEIGHT, honest yield usually providing a cost savings.

Vented Shrink Film

now available

Some shrink film applications require vents to evacuate air. We can now vent shrink bundling film and centerfold in many configurations.  Our standard is 1/16 inch holes on three inch centers with no upcharge.   Other specialty options range from nearly invisible laser microperfs in zones to “macro” perfs 3/16" diameter.

Trust your shrink film supplier with weights and measures ?

Many extruders of shrink film in the US sell shrink film by "gross weight" defined as a full 10% over gauged plus the tare weight of cores, stretch wrap and pallet. So the true cost per package is up to 15% more than the low price on the invoice. This became common practice in the 1970's and is still often listed in the fine print of terms and conditions of sale.

Caveat emptor if your supplier takes advantage of the information asymmetry and does not mark both the footage and weight on each roll.

Bag makers and other converters are savvy about what is known as yield, or area derived from a specific number of pounds of a given thickness. Industrial users who buy film by the pound and cut off to make packages are in effect converters. Without the mathematical tools, it is impossible to audit yield.
