Release Liners

Release liners are necessary to separate single coated and double coated tapes and rubber. Release liners are usually comprised of glassine, paper or plastic which has been coated with clay or fluorosilicone. Embossed plastic film, also known as camelback or dimpled film, works by minimizing the amount of surface contact.

While siliconized coated papers are sophisticated and can be tailored with features such as differential release, they are expensive due to the complex manufacturing process. They are hydroscopic and can paper-based siliconized release papers exhibit buckling or cockling after exposure to high heat and humidity. There is no secondary use for them, so silicone coated release liners are destined for the landfill.

Embossed films also known as dimpled release liner or camelback work by reducing the area of surface contact with the tape or rubber. These materials are commonly recycled.

Assessing the effectiveness of any release liner always leaves room for subjectivity as stated in ASTM D 5375.

Our new smooth, unembossed non-silicone release liner is as effective as most silicone release liners for die cuts and slit rolls and is 100% LDPE # 4 recyclable.

Release properties can be tailored to tight or easy release.
